While full removal of suppressors from the National Firearms Act (NFA) didn’t survive Senate scrutiny, the final law eliminated the $200 tax for the issuance of a tax stamp, reducing it to $0 for suppressors, short-barreled rifles, shotguns, and AOWs, effective January 1, 2026. ASA praised the achievement as “the biggest blow to the National Firearms Act since its passage” and is now gearing up for a legal challenge to further dismantle the NFA.
